I was thinking today about how Jesus's death would have been portrayed by the media and the occupying Romans if he had died today. So with a real BBC story as the spark, I reimagined the event with Chechnya playing the part of Israel and Russia as Rome. I realize it's not a perfect parallel, and this story is not meant to be a commentary on the Chechen conflict. It's an experiment in the imagination, so take it as such.
